Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) Filters is a medical device made by Bard used to prevent blood clots from traveling from the deep veins in your leg to the lungs or the heart. When it functions properly, it can save the patient from experiencing a stroke or pulmonary embolism while a defect in the device can be fatal since patients who are treated with IVC filters are not candidates for concomitant treatment with medications.
Currently, lawsuits have been filed against Bard for defects in the G2 IVC Filter System and the Recovery IVC Filter System, resulting in malfunction of the device and serious injuries to the plaintiffs. In fact, there are medical studies showing that some of the IVC Filters manufactured by Bard have broken down inside the veins, prohibiting its function.

Patients with defective IVC Filters or Filters that have fractured within the body are at risk of severe injuries such as:
- Hemorrhage
- Cardiac/pericardial tamponade
- Perforation of vital tissue, vessels or organs
- Death
If you or a loved one has an implanted IVC filter, it is important to beware of any unusual symptoms. If you experience any pain in the chest or difficulty breathing, you should seek medical help immediately. If you or a loved one has been injured due to a defective IVC Filter, you may be entitled to financial compensation.
