Ortho Evra is a transdermal patch made by Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, Inc. to prevent pregnancy. The contraceptive patch is very effective at preventing birth control but like any other oral contraceptive medication, it does not prevent the user from contracting sexually transmitted infections like HIV.

Currently, there is a lawsuit forming against Ortho-McNeil because Ortho Evra has been shown to pose an increased risk of forming blood clots in patients who are using it as a method of birth control. Other hormone based birth controls have also shown to increase your risk of thromboembolic events but Ortho Evra is thought to increase the risk even more in comparison to other similar medications.

The thromboembolic events include blood clots, pulmonary emboli, and deep vein thrombosis which can cause heart attacks, strokes, and even death.

If you or a loved one has suffered serious injuries such as a stroke, heart attack, or deep vein thrombosis while using Ortho Evra, please contact our pharmacist attorney at KANE LEGAL today for a free consultation.
