  • Tendon Rupture

Levaquin® (Levofloxacin) is a flouroquinolone antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections.  Levaquin is manufactured by Ortho McNeil Janssen, a division of Johnson and Johnson.  It was FDA approved in 1996.

Levaquin has caused ruptured tendons, torn tendons.  The FDA has issued a boxed warning, the strongest and most important warning a drug can receive, that says this drug is associated with. Tendonitis and tendon rupture in patients of all ages and that the risk is higher in patients 60 years of age and older, patients taking corticosteroids, and patients with kidney, heart or lung transplant.  Tendon rupture causes swelling inflammation and pain, and usually requires surgery to repair.  Levaquin accounted for 61% of all flouroqinolone-associated tendon ruptures and 45% of all flouroquinolone prescriptions from 1997 to 2005.

If you or a loved one has suffered tendon problems and have taken Levaquin in the past, you may be entitled to compensation.  For a free legal consultation, please contact Kane Legal.
