Depakote is a drug used to help those who suffer from manic depressive disorder, epilepsy, migraine, and certain symptoms associated with neuropathy. Although it helped many patients with problems listed above, it was found that the drug had many serious adverse effects to children who had yet to be born. If the mother took the drug while the fetus was growing in the mother’s womb, they could die. Even if the fetus survived and was born, the baby would have issues such as skeletal defect and growth retardation that would make it impossible to live a normal life.
The company did not do nearly enough tests to make sure that these serious injuries would not occur and neglected to warn the mothers the dangers of the drug to their children. If you or someone you know has suffered injuries due to taking Depakote while pregnant, you may be entitled to compensation. Please contact our pharmacist attorneys at KANE LEGAL today.
