Celebrex (Celecoxib) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) manufactured by Pfizer. Unlike Ibuprofen like Advil (another type of NSAID), it is selective for a specific type of receptor which is thought to reduce inflammation and pain without blocking other normal processes of the body. It is indicated for the treatment of pain and inflammation caused by conditions such as arthritis and menstrual pain as well as the treatment of hereditary polyps in the colon.

Though Celebrex is good at reducing pain and inflammation, it has been found to have increased risks of heart problems including heart attack and stroke. In fact, in July of 2005, the FDA had Pfizer add a “black box warning,” also known as the most severe type of health warning, to the label of Celebrex to inform the patients about the risks of heart attacks, strokes, and gastrointestinal bleeding.

If you or someone you know has experienced or has been diagnosed with a heart attack, stroke, or other serious side effect as a result of taking Celebrex, you may be entitled to compensation. Please contact our pharmacist attorneys at KANE LEGAL today.
