Alli and Xenical (also known as Orlistat) are products approved by the FDA as an adjunct therapy for obesity with reduced caloric diet. It is currently used and marketed over 100 countries including in the European Union. Since its approval in 1999, there were 32 reports of serious liver injury including some cases of liver failure. The most common symptom reported was jaundice (a condition where the skin and the whites of the eyes turn yellow due to liver damage), weakness, and abdominal pain which required hospitalization. Since that time, researchers have found a correlation between Orlistat and these serious types of injuries.

Signs and Symptoms of Kidney Failure
Damage to the kidney can affect the ability of your kidneys to get rid of the wastes in your body. If you have kidney failure, you may see symptoms such as:
- Decreased urine output
- Swelling of the feet or ankles
- Persistent Itching
- Muscle cramps
Signs and Symptoms of Liver Failure
Damage to the liver can affect the ability of your liver to produce and metabolize key substances in your body as well as neutralize toxic materials that are generated. If you have liver failure, you may see symptoms such as:
- Yellowing of the skin and the whites of the eyes (Jaundice)
- Pain in the abdomen
- Fatigue, Nausea, and Vomiting
Signs and Symptoms of Pancreatitis
Pancreas is responsible for releasing hormones and key digestive enzymes in your body. Inflammation and swelling of the pancreas can release these digestive enzymes outside the gastrointestinal tract and cause damage. If you have pancreatitis, you may see symptoms such as:
