Actiq and Fentora

Actiq® & Fentora®

 

Kane Legal is reviewing the following injuries caused by Actiq® and Fentora®:

Actiq or Fentora (fentanyl) is a oral/buccal opioid tablet.  It is manufactured by Cephalon, Inc.  It is indicated and to be prescribed for breakthrough pain in patients with cancer.

 

The F.D.A. issued a public health advisory warning on September 27, 2007 regarding Fentora.  It stated that Actiq and Fentora was being misused and over prescribed based on the medication’s side effect profile and F.D.A. indication.  It requested that Cephalon, Inc. issue healthcare providers updated safety profile information.  Fentora and other opioid medications have been associated with life-threatening hypoventilation, respiratory depression, and/or death.

 

Actiq and Fentora also causes the following side effects:

  • Slow heart rate
  • Edema
  • Confusion
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Sedation
  • Fatigue
