Biographical Information:
Luis P. Diaz, serves as of-counsel with Kane Legal, LLC and operates out of our Philadelphia, New Jersey and Miami offices. Mr. Diaz attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School, as well as New York University, and Empire State College. As a well rounded individual Mr. Diaz has been a certified Spanish English translator for medical and legal contexts since 1998. As a bar member, Diaz
was admitted in Pennsylvania- multi state practice, lower and appellate federal and state courts, U.S. and State Supreme Courts; Regulatory, NLBR, EEOC, EPA, and also admitted by the Insurance Commissions.
Mr. Diaz scope of practice includes Immigration, Civil Rights, Environmental Law, Class actions, Product Liability, Employment Law, Contracts involving insurance/reinsurance, coverage and regulatory insurance law in 14 states and Europe. Mr. Diaz also specializes in Constitutional, Statutory Law, Criminal Law: defense/appellate work, jury trials, RICO, Business and Family Law Bankruptcy.
Mr. Diaz has representative experience with Environmental Law Liability, Reinsurance, Product Liability and Class Actions. His experience includes:
- Acting as Senior Counsel with Anderson & Co. (Mudge Rose Spinoff) where he operated Environmental/Reinsurance and coverage litigation firm. His role involved litigation/arbitration in product liability where he defended Marathon Battery, Inc., on Super Fund
clean-up litigation. In addition, he produced CGL coverage in environmental contamination cases, Long Star litigation- faulty cement railroads ties, and product liability litigation. - Served as Administrative Counsel to Mutual Fire, Marine & Inland Insurance Co. (In Rehabilitation) where he oversaw all submissions to court and was responsible for compliance with Court ordered Rehabilitation Plan; Served as the final arbiter on all policy & procedures; handled arbitrations, supervised outside counsel. Mr. Diaz was also in charge of collecting dues and owing Reinsurance treaties and finalizing all negotiations in the states and abroad. Diaz also analyzed and briefed ethical consideration as part of Court oversight.
- Acted as Senior Litigation Counsel with Sacks, Basch, Brodie & Sachs, where he controlled Labor/employment Class action Litigation (including class action for Transport Workers Union in District Court and 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals involving drug testing, constitutional law and 4th Amendments/Injunctive Relief.
- Acted as Executive Director/Chief Counsel for the Latino Project Inc., where Diaz designed, created and fund-raised for this public interest litigation/research firm, handling class actions in civil rights Title VII and Title VI. He also created and ran “The Hispanic Federation for Social and Economic Development”.
